A stablecoin OTC transaction needs an exact token and network, not just a request for a digital dollar. Confirm the issuer, asset version, amount, quote currency and settlement route. A target price does not eliminate market, issuer or transfer risk.

Which stablecoin are you discussing?

Stablecoins differ in design, issuer arrangements and access to redemption. USDC is issued by Circle and is designed around a US-dollar reference. Other stablecoins have their own terms. Do not assume tokens with similar purposes have identical risks or are interchangeable.

Ask the desk to identify the precise asset. Availability needs to be confirmed for your transaction; this guide does not promise Lumora support for a particular stablecoin.

Why does the network matter?

A token can be used on more than one network. A receiving wallet or account may support only particular versions. Confirm the token and network together and verify whether the transfer requires any additional destination information.

Do not choose a network only because a fee looks lower. The sending and receiving arrangements both need to support the agreed transfer. Using the wrong version can make recovery difficult or impossible.

How do you compare an AUD quote?

A US-dollar-referenced token is not an Australian-dollar balance. If you are paying or receiving AUD, compare the quoted AUD total for the specified token amount. The exchange rate and any separately charged costs affect that total.

Do not assume that a token described as worth one US dollar means one Australian dollar, or that a reference peg guarantees the price available in your transaction. Ask how pricing and conversion are handled.

Which risks remain?

Consider the issuer and asset arrangements, market pricing, access to redemption and operational dependencies. Terms and protections vary. Transferring through a desk also retains counterparty, funding and network risks.

A stablecoin is not automatically equivalent to a bank deposit. Understand the asset and the transaction rather than inferring protections from its name.

What should a first enquiry contain?

  • The exact stablecoin and intended network.
  • Buy or sell direction and amount.
  • The currency you will pay or receive.
  • Preferred timing and destination requirements.
  • Questions about pricing, costs and settlement.

Prepare an OTC enquiry and have our team confirm eligibility, availability and the applicable terms before proceeding.

Issuer reference

Circle’s USDC information describes its own token. Issuer information is not a guarantee of a desk’s availability or a particular market price.
